I work at the intersection of content, technology, and communication.

The path so far

I have never really followed a straight line when it comes to work. I started with web development soon after securing a Masters in Computer Science from Mumbai University. But somewhere along the way, the work began taking me in different directions: towards content, communication, products, people and the decisions that sit between an idea and the product.

Over the years, I have found myself working on different kinds of things. I have built websites and digital platforms, worked on SEO and content, written documentation, shaped information architecture, managed projects, coordinated teams, worked with artists and doctors, helped businesses articulate what they do, and spent countless hours trying to understand what someone actually needs before figuring out how to build it.

That last part has probably taught me the most.

I have discovered that listening is a skill, and empathy has become an important part of how I work.

Speaking both languages

My technical background coupled with my communication & comprehension skills have shaped my career. I have spent enough time with code, systems and developers to be comfortable with the technical side of things, but I have also spent enough time communicating with people who don't speak that language to understand the importance of translation.

I enjoy taking something complicated and finding a simpler, more human way of explaining it, whether that means a piece of content, a website structure, a product requirement, a user journey, or simply an idea that needs to make sense to someone else.

An eye for detail

I have a keen eye for detail, meaning I notice the spacing, the hierarchy, the words that don't quite belong. Or even the jargon / the unnecessary complication, the missing or essential piece of information or the image that doesn't quite sit right.

The difference between something that has technically been completed and something that feels complete.

Why aesthetics matter

Aesthetics matter to me, but not as decoration. I think good design and good communication have something in common: both are about making things easier to understand, easier to experience and, ideally, a little more memorable.

I have always had a fairly high benchmark for quality, and I have learned that this can be both a demanding instinct and a useful one.

Threads, not disciplines

My work has therefore become less about fitting neatly into one discipline and more about connecting the pieces. What keeps work interesting for me is that there is always another layer to explore.

  • Websites led me into information architecture and user experience.
  • Content led me towards questions of authority, clarity and engagement.
  • SEO led me deeper into how people search and how information gets discovered.
  • Technology gave me a way to understand how things work beneath the surface.
  • People taught me that none of those things matter very much if you haven't first understood who you are building them for.
